Challenge This project presented a challenge in fixturing, location and orientation of two hex nuts for mating precisely with the housing.
Key to Success The team designed and built lower tooling to properly locate and orient the fittings (hew nuts). They also designed upper tooling to locate this housing during the production welding process.

Orbitform Group, Jackson, Mich., has announced additional capacity to provide prototype services for the assembly of parts within the new Application Enginnering Lab at the company's headquarters.
Specializing in forming, joining, and fastening, the 6,000-sq.-ft. lab facility within the company's 116,000-sq.ft. building is staffed by two full-time engineers - Brent Withrow and Todd Hutson- who have a combined 35 years of experience in developing all types of fastening applications and have reviewed more than 25,000 applications.
The lab provides process and product development services, short to medium production runs, custom machining capabilities, and tooling development and design. It is equipped with more than 30 of the company's standard impact, orbital, spiral, roller forming, hot upset, GMAW, and resistance welding machines.
